Failing To Obtain Proper Permits

The North Carolina General Statues regulate that if a permit is required and not obtained,
there has been a violation of the permit requirements governed and a Class 1 misdemeanor
may be incurred as a result. Penalties to be imposed can range from a discretionary fine to
possible suspension or loss of your general contracting license for starting construction before
securing all proper permits. Permit cost penalty of 100 % of the usual permit fee will also be
imposed as per the North Carolina State Building Code.
